PERMANENT MUSCLE WEAKNESS
(PMW) OCCURS IN A MAJORITY OF
PATIENTS WITH PRIMARY PERIODIC
PARALYSIS (PPP) AND IS OFTEN
IRREVERSIBLE1
PPP presents as recurrent episodes of temporary paralysis and muscle weakness2
Permanent Muscle Weakness may occur in patients with PPP, a neuromuscular disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of paralysis and muscle weakness.1-4
Permanent Muscle Weakness may result
in decreased mobility, loss of function, and
reduced participation in social activities.1,3
Permanent Muscle Weakness can
be incapacitating1
After years of paralytic episodes, PMW may be irreversible as muscle atrophies. The less common edematous form of PMW may be reversible with treatment.1-3
Recognize the characteristics of PPP
for earlier diagnosis and management.
