Be Proactive
Managing Primary Periodic Paralysis (PPP) can be challenging, but the following steps can help:
Be Prepared
Always be prepared for the possibility of an episode at work or at home.
Even though it’s a delicate subject, discussing your condition with trusted coworkers and family members is important. If possible, develop a plan so they know how to help you in the event of an episode
Create a safe sleeping environment: keep a phone within easy reach and remove potential hazards such as slippery rugs or glassware that could shatter on the floor2
Keep any medication prescribed for episodes of PPP on hand
Be Supported
Coping with the physical and emotional challenges of PPP isn’t easy, but having the support of your family, friends, and others living with PPP can help you maintain your determination.
